A story is told in the book of 1st Samuel 16:6 – 18, of how Prophet Samuel was looking to anoint the chosen son from the family of Jesse to be the next King of Israel. Jesse makes his finest, most educated and high ranked sons to come before Samuel but none of them is suitable before the Lord, for the Lord looks not at the outward appearance but judges by the condition of one’s heart.
The Lord then leads his prophet to enquire if there is a son left from Jesse’s household and that is the first time the shepherd boy David is mentioned. The Prophet summons David and as soon as he arrives the Lord approves, and commands that he be anointed. Immediately the Spirit of God falls upon him and at the same time an evil Spirit descends upon Saul who was the current king of Israel then.
David then proceeds to express his anointing through great victories in battle and his exceptional skills in playing the harp. In his legacy he is remembered as a man after God’s own heart.
There are vital lessons that we can learn from this story.
The Lord does not look at the physical condition but rather he is more interested in the condition of our hearts. Abinadab is more qualified physically and has military experience but the Lord chooses to pour his anointing on the shephard boy David instead.
Many young people are anointed by God and yet they don’t recognize the anointing in them. Just like David, many young people are out there caring for sheep instead of taking their rightful positions as Kings.
No anointing comes to you without a purpose. Just as David was anointed to be king and to bring victories to Israel so have we also been anointed to bring glory to the kingdom of God.
Everyone is replaceable whether they are King or not, when you fail to do what God has called you to do, then the Lord will always raise someone else to replace you.
MESSAGE FOR THE ANOINTED YOUTH
Do not underestimate the anointing in you.
Realize that you are too anointed to just sit there and do nothing for the Lord.
Dare to break the seal and let the anointing flow.
When put in a position do something that people will always remember.
Recognize that you have the capacity to achieve what you want.
Young people miss their destiny because of lack of understanding of their purpose.
You had rather make mistakes doing something rather than waste opportunities.
NOW THE REAL QUESTION IS WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THE ANOINTING THAT GOD HAS PUT IN YOU?
